Emmett Kiwanis Club Installs New Officers
On September 27, Kiwanis International Utah-Idaho District Governor Larry Hunter attended the Emmett Kiwanis Club meeting to install new officers and directors for 2017-2018. Our new officers are: Martin (Marty) W. Fry, President, Alan Crabtree, President Elect, Harvey Stetzel, Past President, Carrie Johnson, Secretary, Lynne Crabtree, Treasurer, Marty Huguenin, Director and Denise Sorenson, Director. All have long established credentials serving the Kiwanis Club and the Emmett community, as we anticipate them doing in the future.
President Marty Fry addressed the club following his induction and laid out his agenda for the coming year, which includes nearly tripling membership to 35 to offset recent loss of members who are no longer active. He also stated the need to schedule guest speakers addressing interesting topics that are compatible with the goals and objectives of the club. And, he emphasized the need for active participation of all members to make the club more effective in serving the community.
The benefits to the community from clubs like ours is determined by the participation of its members. Emmett Kiwanis is fortunate to be served by a membership that values community service and strives to give to the community far more than it takes from it. We invite others of a like mind to join us in making a difference, especially in the lives of the youth in our community, which is the basic purpose of Kiwanis Club International. Emmett Kiwanis also strives to assist the elderly in our community through efforts directed at both individuals and groups needing assistance.
Even if you are not a member you can bring ideas for activities, events or programs that benefit our community to Emmett Kiwanis so that we may better serve Emmett and its citizens. Your suggestions and participation in our programs will always be welcome and appreciated. Contact President Marty Fry at 805-746-6623 to suggest programs or events for consideration, or to volunteer your participation in any Emmett Kiwanis activity.
